Splendors of the East Tour

Duration: 05 Nights / 06 Days
Places Covered: Kolkata – Bhubaneswar – Konark – Puri – Bhubaneswar – Kolkata

The evolution of British India was deeply intertwined with the Islamic Kingdoms of the East. This journey offers a glimpse of the Raj while exploring Hindu and Islamic cultures that flourished alongside colonial rule.

Kolkata, the capital of British India until 1911, reflects the grandeur of the Raj with its colonial monuments, vibrant markets, and diverse culture. Its blend of British architecture, temples, and mosques makes the city a fascinating introduction to Eastern India. As evening falls, a serene cruise on the Hooghly River reveals Kolkata’s historic riverside charm.

From here, the tour moves to Odisha, one of India’s most rural and culturally rich states. Known for its intricately carved temples and spiritual legacy, Odisha is home to some of the country’s most revered pilgrimage sites and unique architectural wonders.

At Bhubaneswar, the "Temple City of India," you will explore beautifully sculpted shrines such as the Lingaraj Temple and Jain caves of Udayagiri and Khandagiri, once used as monastic retreats. A short drive brings you to Konark, home to the world-renowned 13th-century Sun Temple, built as a tribute to Surya, the Sun God, and celebrated for its exquisite stone carvings.

The journey continues to Puri, one of India’s four holiest pilgrimage destinations, where the sacred Jagannath Temple stands as a living center of devotion. The bustling bazaar around the temple adds a vibrant cultural experience. Puri is also known for its golden beaches, offering a perfect mix of spirituality and relaxation.
