Location : Kanha national park is located in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh.
Best time to visit : The best season to Kanha national park is from April to June and from November to January. It should be noted that the park remains closed from July to Mid-November which is the monsoon season.


The Park
Kanha National Park, commonly known as the Tiger reserve of the country is situated in the Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh and covers an area of more than 1,940-sq-kms. The prominent features of the topography of the region are the horseshoe shape valley and the spurs of the Mekal that surrounds the entire area. River Surpan flows through Kanha's central grasslands which cover an extensive plateau and steep rocky cliff along the edges present mesmerising views of the valley.


How to reach :
TigerAir : The nearest airport is in Nagpur and is at a distance of 266-kms from the Kanha National Park and is connected to Mumbai via various domestic airline services.
Rail : Jabalpur railway station, at a distance of 169-kms, is the nearest to visit Kanha.
Road : Kanha National Park is connected by road with Jabalpur(175-kms), Khajuraho (445-kms), Nagpur (266-kms), Mukki (25-kms), Raipur (219-kms). Within the park: from Koshi to is Kanha (9-kms), from Kishi to Katia is (4-kms), from Kishi to Mukki is (32-kms). There are regular bus service available from Jabalpur to Kanha.
Local Transport : An efficient Jeep service is provided by the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) for the visitors to the park. Advance bookings can be made through the Manager, MPSTDC, Log huts, Kisli and wild Chalet Resorts at Village Mocha, Kanha can also be instrumental in arranging for local sightseeing.


Wildlife attractions :
The Flora : Bamboo forests, Sal forests and meadows are commonly found here.
The Fauna : The various animals found in the national park are Tiger, Deer, Antelope, the Black Buck, Barking Deer, rare Barasingha, the Swamp Deer, Porcupine, Gray Langurs, Mongoose, Hyena, Jungle Cat, Leopard and varieties of Deer namely the Barasingha, Chital or Spotted Deer. The others include the Chousingha, Nilgai, Gaur or Indian Bison and wild Pig.
The Avifauna : The park is also home to several bird species. You will find thousands of them chirping here and there.
